why the solace from a candle's flame?
because light banishes the darkness
because light centres our thought
and by candlelight we are safe.
why understanding from such stillness?
like hope the flame is small
like faith the flame is bright
a lit candle is a prayer shared.
where the healing from this small light?
from the shining into the heart's darkness
from the remembering of other candles
for only good intention lights a candle.
darkness is our most ancient problem.
