distant relations
people were once enclosed
made safe and given order
in families large and extended
demanding and fulfilling
modern times find us open
having wandered to distant places
among friends and smaller family
content yet diminished
occasion brings remembrance
of persons and places lost
and for awhile we are full
of an ancient pride
we are both family and friends
bonded by blood and providence |
