Wolverine in the Night

Screech!

Line

At one of our camps, we didn't have water. We had to go about four miles west to get it. We were drilling seismic holes, and all of a sudden by accident, they punched a flowing well on the seismic line. They thought "Hey, this is great!" So they shot the hole, and then they cleaned it out and the water was flowing down the hill. Just beautiful clear cold water.

So the camp decided to haul that water in to camp to use. For we had no water where the campsite was. No well. So we had a 500 gallon tank on the back of a truck. We'd go out and fill the tank and then we'd head down this road. It was a bumpy road. It was like this all the way. Just an old seismic road.

Well, we're bouncing along there one night, old Porky and I, and Jimmy Claxton, bouncing along this road. All of a sudden Jimmy says, "Hey Porky, stop. I've got to go to the bathroom." "Ah, so do I." says he. So, we're all standing out by the truck, at night, with the engine running, lights on, and we're all peeing to beat the dickens when this screech and noise! Right just as if it was beside us.

All three of us in the truck, driving down the road. Not one of us had finished! No zippers up or anything. We're just driving. That's the most terrible noise. If you can imagine stabbing a women with a knife. Screech!
